No those are not the winning numbers for the 6-49. This is a language you and I rely on – ASCII. It doesn’t mean much to you or me, but to the computer you are sitting in front of it is the letters you are reading.
We are all aware that a computer can only understand yes and no, in computer terms 0 and 1. But much like we have evolved to form complex sentences from simple grunts, computers, through our guidance, have evolved to combine those yeses and nos into meaningful phrases, rules and actions. My job and passion is creating new rules and actions for this immaterial world. I feel it is one of the only jobs that you can start with nothing and create an enviornment that is engaging, interactive and socially beneficial. The only limits of this enviornment are your immagination and creativity.
As a member of the organizing commitee for the Quo Vadis 2012 Calgary conference, this is the freedom, and realization that I hope will be instilled in each Quo Vadis delegate. I realize most attendees will not be software developers but there is another occupation that gives you those same freedoms with the potential of an even greater impact. Of course I am talking about entrepreneurship, be it business or social. And in this field your profession or vocation is irrelevant, what matters most is your willingness to create an impact. All of us have it inside of us, we just need to stop supressing it. Making a change is not easy, it is a long and arduous process but with the right support we can achieve it.
Quo Vadis Calgary 2012 aims to be both the spark and the support network that helps delegates create those changes. It might seem that it is a very large task to undertake, but we have a significant advantage: the Polish-Canadian community. By learning from the successes and failures of community members that are very much like us, we will gain the confidence and know-how, of how to make those changes in our society.
So if you are looking for a spark or a support network, or more importantly are willing to support others in their ventures, I would like to translate that first line through the translator that you are sitting at: “You are invited to QV4 Calgary 2012”.
